What’s new from the shows: Here is a robust lineup of new sprayers for 2018.
By Farm Progress staff
The big news in sprayers introduced at farm shows this year is that three trusted names in sprayers now have new owners. But all three are introducing new models for 2018 and carrying forward. There is even a brand new line of sprayers redesigned for the U.S. that one of these companies now offers.
Equipment Technologies has long championed mechanical drive sprayers, inventing and making the Apache brand. Indeed, three new Apache models are included in the lineup of new sprayers for 2018.
But ET, bought by a foreign buyer within the past couple of years, now also offers a brand new series of high-clearance sprayers. And Bruin sprayers will be made in Mooresville, Ind. The sprayer is based on a popular model in Europe, which has been redesigned for the U.S. market. It isn’t mechanical drive. However, spokespeople insist that they are as committed to the Apache line as ever, and are broadening their offerings, not intending to shrink them.
As for the Hagie name continuing after its purchase by John Deere, spokespeople were adamant that the Hagie name, colors and new innovations would continue just as before. Their show lots were filled with familiar Hagie machines, with a couple new ones thrown in. One is a detassler for the seed corn industry, but it is built with the same high-clearance stature and same quality as the Hagie sprayers.
New Holland acquired Miller sprayers recently. A new sprayer in the Miller line is part of the lineup as well.
All these new sprayers not only feature upgraded mechanical and electronic features, but also are available with the latest in GPS technology, including boom section control and many other features that are becoming popular in the sprayer market.
