What’s new from the shows: Products help you work safer, smarter and more efficiently.
By FPS staff
If you’ve got grain or other products to move, companies are stepping up with even more solutions than what are already available on the market. There are new product offerings in augers and conveyors, with belt conveyors remaining popular due to their gentle handling of specialty grain and seed. If you’re in the market for new conveyors or augers, you might want to add these new products to your list of possibilities to check out before you make your final decision on which product you want to purchase.
There are also products for those putting up new grain storage bins or new grain centers, including grain bin steps, catwalks and related items which help make up an efficient grain handling system. The new products offered emphasize safety when working around the grain center as well, and when discussing safety around the grain center with both employees and family members.
If you’re including grain legs and bucket elevators in your grain center construction project or remodeling, there are also offerings for you to consider. If it has to do with moving or handling grain, companies are constantly coming up with what they believe is a better mousetrap. Many of those better mousetraps were introduced at farm shows recently.
There’s even a product called Fan Jammer that simply stops fan blades from rotating when not in use. Otherwise, wind and air movement may cause them to rotate and shorten the useful life of the internal parts that operate the fan.
Check out all the offerings and contact the companies for more information.

The new Gravity Grain Spreader from Sioux Steel Co. helps avoid the core of fines in the center of a grain bin, preventing the sliding of lighter grain and foreign matter to the edge of the bin. These units, designed in two different sizes for smaller and larger bins, create a more homogenous grain mass that promotes more uniform drying. There will be fewer obstructions at the sump while unloading in bins equipped with the new Sioux unit. Learn more at siouxsteel.com or call 800-557-4689.

Keep your trucks rolling at harvest with the new 15 Series Swing Away Harvest GrainBelts. The 1590 model from Brandt offers a reach of 90 feet. It uses a 15-inch belt that can move up to 6,700 bushels per hour. The swing away intake offers a 17-foot swing radius and 62 inches of usable hopper, allowing it to capture grain from the largest of trailers without moving the truck. A bonus this year is that the intake is attached to the auger; just fold it to up the side and it clips onto the side of the auger, making for easy transport. The 15 Series comes in 80-, 90-and 100-foot conveyor lengths. For more information, contact Brandt, Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, at 866-427-2638 or visit the website at brandt.ca.

AGI’s new HX Series auger is a galvanized swing auger with a scissor-lift frame. “It’s really heavy-duty, long-lasting,” says Greg Giesbrecht, the company’s portable equipment director. The truss system on the bin helps keep the auger stable. “It makes the whole structure very rigid, so when you’re placing it on a bin, it doesn’t sag or droop,” he says. The auger is available this fall for $35,000. To find a dealer, go to aggrowth.com/dealer-portals.

AGI’s new HCX galvanized belt conveyors come in several different configurations, from one you can use as a field loader to unload a bin to units that will fill multiple bins. “This model is designed with a lot of features that make it easy for the farmer to use, placing it under the bin the way the hopper is designed,” says Greg Giesbrecht, the company’s director of portable equipment. He says the galvanized tube is a good fit for a lot of farmers as they want something that is durable and will last. The belt conveyor will be available this fall. Here’s one of those ‘Why didn’t I think of that?’ products. Fan Jammer is a simple device that locks in place next to a centrifugal fan’s on-off switch. When it’s locked in, the fan won’t turn. Centrifugal fans nearly always turn even when not running if there is any wind at all. The constant wear over time can cause centrifugal start switches and bearings to fail prematurely. If you’re buying 10 or fewer Fan Jammers, the list price is $300 each; the price declines per unit for larger purchases. Contact Fan Jammer, Huron, S.D., at 866-526-5682 or visit fan-jammer.com.
